As the world adjusts to cope with the COVID-19 virus, so does the construction industry in the Bahamas.

TMC Engineering Ltd. is currently closed to construction.  Our project managers are still available to work with prospective clients to get the design, estimating, and contract portions of new projects done during this downtime.  We are all ready to get back to work as soon as the government allows and it is safe for all of us.

Star Buildings is still open, and like so many other companies, a lot of their office staff is working from home.  The steel factories are still operating while maintaining social distancing and sanitizing standards.  There are currently only minor delays in existing order metal building deliveries.

Many of our clients are currently helping out and many are considered essential.  Unfortunately a lot of our customers are also closed as deemed non-essential.  Here are some featured clients and how they are helping.

Aquapure is producing water to support our community.  Bottled water is available from their location on Bernard Road and via home delivery and through grocery and retail stores.  Their recently renovated facility uses a standing seam roof over their old existing roof.  Their water supply depot is built out of a VersaTube structure – a hurricane rated storage building secured with chain link fencing.

Consolidated Water is, like always, producing municipal water to supply the western end of New Providence.  Their brand new Reverse Osmosis plant is a 200mph rated metal building.  It is fully galvanized to be corrosion resistant to weather and the high salinity manufacturing environment.

Suez also has a new water producing plant in North Eleuthera, supplying the mainland, Harbour Island, and Spanish wells with potable water.  Their 200mph rated steel building is also fully galvanized and has an interior mezzanine.

Bahamas Wholesale Agencies (BWA) is keeping local and family island retail stores stocked.  They are following strict social distancing guidelines to allow efficient distribution of their food and beverage products.  Their insulated metal panel building and high-efficiency insulated roof maintain ideal temperatures for storage in our climate.

Home Fabrics is currently closed to the public, but is currently offering curbside pickup for those persons making PPE.  Fabric masks are easily made to protect those going in public and frontline workers.  Their storage warehouse is designed with rack storage to accommodate their variety of products efficiently.

Blanco Chemicals has been a staple of manufacturing in the Bahamas for 60 years.  Their cleaning and sanitizing products are in high demand.  We have worked with them over the years to renovate their existing facility and expand their storage and production.  steel building expansion nassau

As mentioned, TMC is currently closed – but we are doing what we can to support.  Our computers are currently running Folding@Home to offer computing power to run simulations for coronavirus research.  We also continue to support the Rotary Club of East Nassau and Rotary International.

We encourage everyone to follow the government-mandated response and to stay safe in these turbulent times. We hope we can get through this period swiftly and safely so we can all get back to business.

If there’s anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
